Hair Update | October 2014 – Ghana Braids

November 3, 2014

I was about 7 weeks post relaxer at the beginning of October and my hair was just getting too cumbersome to style, so i decided to braid my hair on October 11 2014. Below is the #nofilter version of the picture posted on  Facebook and Instagram. All the pictures below were taken with the I-pad mini.

I always go to my aunt for braiding because she is the best! She used about 2 packs of Xpressions hair extensions. I don’t remember the number, but the colour was burgundy. Thank you Aunty, i really appreciate it <3

Hair Prep & Maintenance
I washed my hair the night before getting the braids in. I did a protein treatment using ORS Hair Mayonnaise, and followed with my deep conditioner mix. To maintain the braids, i wear a silk scarf to bed. The braids were a bit tight for the first week, so i spread the scarf over my pillow. I didn’t wash the braids for the first 2 weeks, as i didn’t want to disrupt the style. I just moisturized with ORS Hair Lotion and sealed with grapeseed oil. I washed the braids on October 31 and I used peppermint oil to clarify the scalp of build up.
