My ends are more tolerant to the winter chill compared to last year and i credit my night routine. The ‘flat curl-bun’ method helps protect my ends, while prolonging the heat style for 8-10 days. I recommend this style if you’ve been unsuccessful (like me) with the ‘wrap’ method.
1. I start with a wide-tooth comb to make sure there are no tangles and I follow with a soft bristle brush for a sleek look.
2. I section my hair into 4 and roll each section into a flat bun. To make the bun, i stick my index finger in the middle of each section and roll the hair around it. I flatten the bun with my free fingers and secure it with a bobby pin.
3. I protect the buns with a silk scarf and head to bed. I use a silk scarf because it smoothens flyaways; it also prevents moisture loss to cotton pillowcase.
The next morning, i remove the scarf and style. I have never dyed/coloured my hair; the reddish tint noted is due to the relaxer. The colour is enhanced by my frequent use of honey.
My ends feels moisturized and the bun leaves ‘waves’ in my hair.
For straight styles, i smoothen the ‘waves’ with a bristle brush. Below, I opted for a sleek ponytail.
Do you have a nighttime routine? Have you tried this method? How’s your hair holding up to the cold?
