My Staple Line

August 9, 2014

If you visit my hair page, you will notice that most of the products listed are from the ORS (formally: Organic Root Simulator) Olive Oil system. This is my staple line! A staple is simply a product that you really like and use regularly.

<3<3<3  the products because they work! I have used the ORS shampoo and conditioner prior to starting my healthy hair lifestyle and I notice a change on the very first use. My hair was very soft and shiny. Since I was not taking proper care of my hair, i didn’t experience the full benefits of the products. Below is my two cents on the products 😀

I always part my hair into 4 sections before applying products. I also wash my hair in 4 sections

ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo ORS Shampoo

This is, by far the best shampoo I have ever used. It removes buildup and impurities (pesky flakes) from my hair. It has a subtle smell, which is a plus, as I don’t like strong smelling products. I also like the colour and consistency, and I only have to use a little to get amazing result. The only caveat is that it is a clarifying shampoo; it strips the hair of everything – including natural oils and moisture. For this reason, I only use it twice a month and I always do a prewash treatment before use and deep condition after use to restore moisture. Update: I was looking on the ORS website, and there is a sulfate-free version of this. I can’t wait to try it!

ORS Hair Mayonnaise
ORS Hair MayonnaiseAfter using this protein treatment, my hair feels stronger and the shedding reduces drastically. I use it about once a month; typically the week before (and after) a relaxer treatment, and before (and after) braiding. I use it right after shampoo and leave it in my hair for about 15mins with a shower cap on. This is a strong protein treatment, so I apply just enough to coat my hair.

ORS Replenishing ConditionerORS Replenishing Conditioner

I use this product after a protein treatment and it is the best conditioner I have used till date. I don’t particularly fancy the citrus-y/tangy smell, but I like its colour and thickness. It is a light protein conditioner, which makes it ideal for relaxed hair. It can also be used as a deep conditioner. I use it as a deep conditioner to restore moisture lost to shampoo and to soften my hair after the protein treatment. I usually leave it in for approx. 40mins with a plastic cap on. I wash it out with warm water, and then do a final rinse with cold water.

ORS Crème & ORS Moisturizing Hair Lotion

I can’t really tell the difference between the products, as they give the same results. They have similar colour, thickness, smell, and they moisturize my hair without weighing it down –if I use a little. I use the lotion before using heat, and i use the crème for twistouts and to moisturize my new growth using the LCO/LOC (liquid, cream, oil) method.

ORS Olive Oil Heat Protection SerumORS Heat Protectant
I use it to protect my hair from heat damage from hot tools. It is very thin and it coats my hair really well.

Extra: HAIRepair Vital Oils

The oil is not part of the Olive Oil line, but it is worth mentioning. It is ideal for freshly relaxed hair because it is thin and doesn’t weigh it down. It smells amazing and it contains high contents of natural oils -my main reason for purchase. I don’t use it anymore, since my hair has become quite thick, i use avocado oil instead. I also noted that the oil is not much help during extreme weather conditions (i.e: polar vortex, heat wave, etc.)HAIRepair Oil

Overall, the ORS Olive Oil is a wonderful line. It retails from $8 – $13 CDN and it is available at Wal-Mart, Target, Shoppers Drug Mart, and beauty supply stores. I will recommend this line if you are starting a hair journey; it is affordable, easily accessible and most importantly, it works!
