Now that spring is (finally!) here, I ensure to take proper care of my skin, as it tend to change according to the weather. Below is my summer skincare regimen.
Daytime Skincare Routine
The Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash has been a staple in my skincare regimen for over 2 years. It is so gentle on my skin, and it does a great job removing impurities without leaving it dry. I use it twice daily, in the morning and at night. Another thing I love about it is that, it is readily available at retail stores like Loblaws, Wal-Mart and Shoppers Drug Mart.
When I was looking for an alternative to the La Roche-Posay toner, I came by the Simple Soothing Facial Toner. This toner is indeed soothing! It does a great job toning and tightening my pores without leaving it dry. I have been using it for about 3 years and I have noted a significant fading of acne scars. To use, I squeeze 4-5 drops into a cotton pad, and wipe in circular motion, starting from the t-zone.
3. Moisturizer & Sunscreen
La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 60 works really well as a moisturizer and sunscreen. I wear sunscreen everyday (rain or shine) and I highly recommend it. The sunscreen is so lightweight, and it never clogs my pores. The ‘ultra-light’ (right) version is very thin with a matte finish, and it sets my face really well before applying a primer.

4. Jojoba Oil
Jojoba Oil is my favourite oil, it is very versatile and it contains numerous skin-loving nutrients. I use it about an hour before heading to bed for optimal absorption. I add about 3 drops into my palm and apply to my face in circular motion, until it is fully absorbed into my skin.
5. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo
Effalclar Duo has been my principal weapon in fighting acne. Whenever I feel a bump under my skin, I apply this pimple zapper to the area and it stops the pimple before it reaches the surface. I have been experiencing sporadic breakouts lately and Effaclar Duo keeps them at bay.
The products above have been very good to my skin, which is why they are in my skincare regimen. I will continue to use them throughout the spring and extend them into the summer months.
If you have acne prone skin (as i), I highly recommend this article on acne treatment and products on reviews.com. I really love their explanation of acne (the chart is very handy!) and their methodology of selecting the listed products. Check it out, you’ll love it!
